It was a fairly cold Spring morning, the sun casting a warm orange glow over the trees, but the wind whistling through the leaves brought with it an icy chill. Though not a particularly strong wind, it ruffled through the fur of the Tokotas, reaching the vulnerable flesh beneath the fur, and forcing them to abandon their plans for the day. Especially with the way the wind would blow over the frozen lake, so cold it was like a silver mist rather than an invisible force, there was going to be no way that the group could stay out in the open long enough to make the trip worthwhile.

The Tokotas seemed disappointed. They could all sense that they would need to turn back and go home if another plan wasn't formed, and they had all been looking forward to playing about on the ice and in the water. Taking one last glance over at the barren landscape of the frozen lake, the group turned away, heading back into the warmer atmosphere of the forest, what little heat there was being trapped between the trees. It was nice there, very good conditions for fishing, which gave the handlers the idea to think of a location to rekindle the day's events. If they couldn't do it on the frozen lake as they had planned, they would have to go elsewhere.

Siluk was a long way from “home”, delivering messages between tribes on the behalf of his sisters, so he wasn't going to be much help. Neither would Rin and Lok, the pair of anthro handlers only in the area for a show that was unfortunately cancelled due to the weather... So it was down to Liam's memory of the area. It was a little further than he usually travelled, but he had been this way before, so he put his mind to the task, trying to recall any spots that would serve their purpose.

He could recall a few locations, though none that would suit their purpose. One was in the very dense forest, so the dire built Tokotas wouldn't be able to squeeze through the trees to reach it. Another was only accessible before the Spring melt, so they wouldn't be able to cross the river to get to it, so bringing anything back would be especially difficult without losing it all. The third was likely to be surrounded by muddy land, so that was out, as he was certain that one of his Tokotas would greatly object to that. His mind blank, he took a glance in the direction of his “main” Tokota, hoping that the sight of the half mane male would stir up some more memories. Looking back at him expectantly, the half mane male did one better, seeming to understand the situation they were in. Pawing at the ground as if he were digging a hole, he dragged his paw from this new space, then sat back and cocked his head at his handler while he worked it out. True that it was a very crude drawing, but Bael was a Tokota after all, so his communication skills were going to be limited, and he was drawing from his very basic understanding of what they were looking for... But somehow it worked, and triggered something in Liam's mind, allowing him to acquire the answer he had been looking for. Giving the half mane a generous caress of his neck, running his fingers through the male's mane and tickling a little behind his ears, Liam turned back to the others, almost grinning from ear to ear out of pride for his beast. “I know just where we could go.”

So Bael led the way, feeling very proud of himself for saving their day out. He knew where they were going, so Liam's job was made all the more easy, having to only steer Bael out of areas where the dires wouldn't be able to follow. Liam's other Tokota, Gwyneira, a very soft looking female curly maned Tokota, ran gracefully behind the half mane male, just a little off to the side to avoid any dirt or derbis that he kicked up when he ran. She had never been to the place that they were heading to, so she had to remain behind Bael, but she wouldn't move too far from her handler... Unlike Gwyn's attitude, the rest of the group seemed happy enough to follow behind. Everyone pretty much kept to themselves during the ride, some of the handlers talking amongst themselves every so often to pass the time, but more focused on the actual riding than anything else. Siluk in particular wasn't speaking very much, though he did have two Tokotas to watch, so he had an excuse. So she couldn't disappear off to be away from the others, he was riding Kalypso, a very beautiful black Tokota who didn't seem to like the attention her coat received, though he allowed her to remain at the back so no one was watching her at least. She seemed content with this arrangement. Corazon, who seemed to be a very shy young Tokota, was more than happy to stay in front of the black female where her handler could keep an eye on her, the brindle of her coat rolling like waves as she moved. Then ahead of her were the two dire built Tokotas, Vassago and Thasha, and their handlers Rin and Lok. Both Tokotas seemed to be minding their own business, although sometimes Vas would get a little too close to Thasha while running and she would snap and shift away to avoid being stepped on. They seemed like a pair of squabbling pups, but Lok and Rin seemed to be fine controlling the both of them.

The smell of fresh water greeted Bael's nose, his tail wagging a little and his stride extending as they arrived at their destination. Which of course meant that Gwyn's own stride extended, her ears flicking back a little as the male's tail swiped across her snout. Ahead of them was a gentle river, large enough for even the two dires to have a swim, but with a soft enough current that none of them would be carried off. Fishing here would be a little more difficult than in the still water of the lake, but there were definitely enough fish passing by to make it interesting for them. Their scales shimmered in the light filtering down through the gaps in the canopy, obscured by ripples every so often as the slight breeze that could make its way through touched the surface of the water.

Everyone was more than a little relieved that they reached the location. The ride was nice, and more importantly nothing had gone wrong, but the further away they moved from where they were staying, the further they had to travel to go home with their catch... Dismounting and removing any tack that the Tokotas had been wearing, the handlers gestured for their Tokotas to go play, while they set themselves up by the roots of a tree, laying back and enjoying the free time they would have while the Tokotas entertained themselves.

Liam very quickly found out that he wasn't going to properly have free time from the Tokotas like the other handlers were, Gwyn curled herself up by his side, resting her head on his lap. She wasn't interested in fishing, she would just watch the others, and teach herself how to do it for the next time so she could show up Bael. Which probably wasn't going to be very difficult due to the mess he was making of it. Still, Liam didn't mind. He was too busy relaxing to care that she hadn't gone off with the others, and just made sure to satisfy the female's attention-seeking personality with a lazy stroke through her mane or a caress of the soft fur of her face every so often. She seemed content with that.

The two dires were the first to the side of the water, Vas barely taking a moment before he was submerged, his grey fur clinging to his form as he resurfaced, even the pale fur of his underbelly turning a shade darker. Thasha hesitated a little, standing on the bank of the river and watching the water run by. It was almost as though she were waiting for something to reach out and drag her in, but then she relaxed and stepped into the water, immediately diving after a fish that had swam too close to her flank on its way down stream. Closing her jaws around its wriggling body, she removed herself from the water and set it down in the bucket her handlers had set out, feeling very proud of herself for catching the first fish of the day. Vas didn't seem very concerned though, he had plenty of time to catch fish, so for now he was just enjoying himself swimming about, relieved to take the weight of his heavily muscled body off his paws.

Kalypso nudged Corazon's shoulder, gesturing with a flick of the tail that she was going to head downstream a little. The brindle female seemed happy to follow behind her, seeming a little unsure of herself, and wanting to just observe the others and their different techniques for a little bit before she started fishing for herself. Unlike the dires who had just dived into the water, Kalypso stood in the shallows of the river, in a pocket of incredibly still water with no current, and waited for a fish to get into range. She didn't move a muscle until she needed to, then when she did strike, her whole body moved with her. Putting all of her power into her attack, she grabbed the fish in one smooth movement, and flicked it back over her shoulder onto the ground where it couldn't escape. Unconcerned with giving it to her handler before the end of their trip, she made sure to quickly check that it couldn't get back into the water from there, then returned back to her previous stance.

Realising that she had been completely forgotten about, Corazon left Kalypso's side, letting her do her thing while she sought out someone else to fish with. Spotting Bael, she cautiously approached him, making sure she didn't sneak up on him and scare him. He seemed to be concentrating very hard on his process, though it seemed like a lot of work for little reward. The half mane was standing in the water as Kalypso had been, but any grace was lost in his actions. While the black female was being very precise and smooth in her motions, he was impatient and frustrated. Fishing was clearly not something he was very confident about, so Corazon decided that this was her chance to be the teacher based on what she had learned from the others. Nudging his flank with her snout, she leaned her weight on him a little, altering his stance for better movement, as she had seen with Thasha. Copying the stance herself, she watched and waited for a fish to move close, just as Kalypso had done, then in one fluid motion she submerged her head, grabbed the fish and threw it behind her. Bael seemed interested, so watched her perform the act a second time before trying it out himself. He was less graceful, preferring to snap at the fish as Thasha did than to smoothly grab it, but the method of throwing it backwards was very helpful. Wagging his tail a little and licking her cheek, he thanked Corazon for her help, then continued fishing, now able to get a proper catch for his handler.

The group remained here for several more hours, but eventually the light began to die down, and the chill grew stronger, so they knew they had to leave. Calling for their Tokotas, they arrived one by one, seeming to enjoy shaking their wet fur all over everyone else. This seemed to be the one time that Gwyn left Liam's side, hiding herself away to not get her beautiful curly coat wet from the cast off of the others. Happy, but tired, all of the other Tokotas collected up their catches, the handlers smiling and rewarding their Tokotas for the good work they had done that day. There was plenty to go around, of various different sizes and species, so the handlers traded a few fish between them, then after a few moments to try and dry the Tokotas off, they tacked them back up, prepared the fish for the journey back, and mounted up.

Everyone took the return journey a little slower than the journey up there, the group a lot closer now and enjoying the company they had. The handlers chatted amongst themselves, Siluk and Lok even joining in a little this time, while the Tokotas communicated with each other through verbal and non-verbal communication. Vas still seemed to want to step on Thasha's toes, and Gwyn was still tailing Bael incredibly closely, but other than that they seemed to all be getting on very well. So when the time came for them to part ways, they all said their proper goodbyes, and Liam in particular made sure to tell them that they were fine to look him up any time they were in the area, the offer extended by Siluk and Rin as well, although Siluk made it clear that it would depend on his sisters as well. Not that it mattered much, the likeliness that Liam would come across them was slim to none, but the thought was nice at least.

The sun was low now, barely balancing on the horizon as Liam, Bael and Gwyn reached their home... They were all tired, but held on to consciousness for a little while longer, the smell of cooking fish quickly welcoming their noses (Mana had started cooking as soon as she had gotten the fish) and shortly after that, greeting their stomachs. Gwyn and the other Tokotas were especially pleased with the meals after doing none of the work, though Bael at least had earned it. At first he was a little bitter about sharing his catch with the others, but it had been a good day for fishing, and he had caught enough to go round. He didn't object when Liam slipped him an extra fish though, that was just a bonus.

Interests
These two gals need someone to do their design, since I'm sure no one wants to see me try that XD

1 Female, natural mane
Submissive - Healthy
ee/AA/Tt/MM/nA/nBl/Cc/nPb/nMrl+l
Marked collared tawny liver pointed merle piebald with blanket and accents

Her parents -
Bayard 1780 x Bahiya 1057

I really like both of the parents' designs, although unfortunately I can't have that red colour of her dam as she's not a brown X3
If possible, I would really like for the Oona/Tomkin specific marked to be on her. (Shoulder/tail marked) I haven't got any Tokos with those yet.
She would probably be more like her sire than her dam really. But if possible, I'd like a slightly more simple version of him? XD

---

The second is this beautiful girl <3

2 Female, natural mane
Average - Healthy
ee/AA/Tt/MM/nPb/nVg/nPng/nD/Gg/Cc/nA
Graying marked collared tawny van gogh piebald dun with pangare and accents

Her parents -
Bartemius 2187 x Odette 1779

For her I will be super picky.
I love Monet 2484 , Minerva 2453 , Picasso 2188 and Bartemius 2187
Their style of van gogh makes it appear like it is showing through the piebald, rather than just speckling on the coat. I really love this style.

In exchange for these designs, I can offer slots to my boys;
Bael 2114 by TotemSpirit IAR Ranjit 1649 by TotemSpirit
Has AoA                     AoAs being worked on. Also due to be average soon (he has enough HP)

Or/as well as HP (Anything up to 30HP though I would prefer around 15 X3) (In literature form)

Or I can offer USD if everything else fails, though for obvious reasons I would prefer not to XD

Comment below, or note me, if you'd be interested.
Include examples of piebalds (and merles) you have done before. I will be picky.

Do you have a journal for her? And what faction are you a part of?
I don't want to submit the picture to the group until I have the info ^^;

Hi :3

I set up a tracker for her here- Link
I'm a PB so unless you've already done the RoH (in which case we can ask what to do) then could it be changed to the RoK?

Ok ^^
I did not do the RoK yet. Do you have a picture of your handler and tack? And would you like any specifics in the picture?

I don't have a specific set of tack, and for her I've not really sorted out a handler so I don't really mind XD
Would you be opposed to using one of your own handlers?

Also, no real specifics for this, other than that I'd really like for the tagged Tokota to be a starter, for HP purposes c:
